Heatshield Chimney Liner Repair
Your chimney liner is in place to do several very important jobs:
- Provide a smooth drafting passage for smoke and combustion gases safely to the atmosphere
- Protect the masonry of your chimney
- Protect nearby combustible materials of your home from fire and smoke damage
The very best way to deal with damaged clay tile chimney liners is with the HeatShield system.
Ye Olde Brit Chimney Sweep provides HeatShield chimney liner repair in San Bernardino CA and surrounding areas, Beaumont CA, and Riverside CA, as well as Verdemont Heights CA, Norco CA, Jurupa Valley CA, Cajon CA, Woodcrest CA, Ontario CA, Banning CA, Highland CA, and more.
The HeatShield System
This amazing system can only be offered by certified HeatShield chimney pros. HeatShield is a unique process designed to address damage issues in clay tile chimney liners. After years and years of intense heat and possibly a chimney fire or two, the clay tiles can spall (become loose) and crack.
Additionally, mortar between the tiles can crumble and generally deteriorate. The result is gaps that put your interior chimney and home at serious risk of fire and related damage.
HeatShield chimney liner repair involves two processes to fix the chimney liner:
-
Repair of mortar joints
-
Resurfacing of the entire clay liner
How HeatShield Works
For mortar repair, we simply fill in the damaged sections of mortar with a specially formulated ceramic based product that can withstand temperatures far beyond what the original clay flue tiles could. This system will last for many years and carries a lifetime manufacturers warrantee.
If the tiles are cracked, the process is a little more involved.
We start by designing a custom foam plug that we place at the bottom of your flue. A line is attached to the plug and secured by a winch at the top of the chimney.
After a general cleaning, we use the plug to pull fresh coating material upwards and thoroughly coat the entire surface of your chimney liner. We use video cameras to ensure that the coating has sealed every square inch of the liner’s interior surface.
Chimney Liner Damage: Worst-Case Scenarios
If a damaged liner is neglected, a variety of chimney problems likely will occur. These include:
- Leakage of deadly carbon monoxide and other combustion gases into your home
- Damage and decay in the bricks of your chimney structure
- Heat and fire damage to materials of your home adjacent to the liner
- Should a chimney leak happen, water damage to interior chimney masonry and areas of the home
- Excess build-up of flammable creosote within cracks and breaks in the clay tiles
